EARLY YEARS AFTER DISCOVERY

In 2006, Perez was first launched as one of the members of Star Magic Batch 13. In fact, he was already a Star Magic talent a year before he was launched but his studies have always been his top priority so his exposure includes only ASAP, Homeboy and appearing as a guest in some ABS-CBN shows.

Perez was spotted by a talent scout while strolling in a mall in Makati. Like other aspiring commercial models, he went through several VTRs before landing to his first commercial stint with Globe. From there, he was cast in the UFC commercial, popularizing the phrase "ye-bah!". However, it was his Milo TV commercial that showcased his basketball skills which eventually captured the attention of ABS-CBN bosses and paved his showbiz career. He attended self-enhancement workshops with Talent Center and was launched as a member of Star Magic Batch 13.

iN 2008

He can be seen in one of the segments in ASAP '08 as one of the talented dancers of the Dynamite Dance Crew together with Dino Imperial, Chris Gutierrez, Enchong Dee, Matt Evans, and Arron Villaflor - dance choreographed by Mickey Perz and John Prats.

He is currently teamed up with Lauren Young (since 2006). They have a good chemistry and they have done a lot of youth-oriented shows wherein they are always partners. They also starred in the "Best Primetime for 2008" LOBO wherein they took the part of being Zoey (Lauren) and Yani Mendoza (AJ).

He had a guest appearance in Entertainment! Live and in ASAP: Dance Cool Segment together with Empress Schuck to promote their film "Magkaibigan".

METRO MANiLA FiLM FESTiVAL ENTRiES

Although "Magkaibigan", one of the official entry for the 34th Metro Manila Film Festival, didn't win as the best picture or anything and had the lowest money gross earned, the whole cast, especially AJ Perez, are very proud and happy to be able to partake in such true-to-life story. And surely, even for him, AJ Perez, is and was very proud to be one of the cast and to be able to be part of this movie since this is his 3rd consecutive time to join the MMFF --- Kasal Kasali Kasalo (Best Picture for 2006) and Sakal Sakali Saklolo (Best Picture for 2007) --- all films under the one and only director whom we can say, loves AJ since his discovery, Jose Javier Reyes also known as Joey Reyes. This is also his first time to make a movie under Mavericks Films, having his past movies under Star Cinema.

AJ Perez is currently part of a dance group in ASAP '09 called Gigger Boys. Together with him are Sam Concepcion, Enchong Dee, Dino Imperial, Robi Domingo, Chris Gutierrez, Arron Villaflor.
He is called THE BOY NEXT DOOR: AJ PEREZ.

Their first appearance was in Xevera, Mabalacat, Pampanga last January 25, 2009. They danced a song popularized by Justin Timberlake (AJ's favorite artist). -Absent: Arron Villaflor
